Team Xecuter has decided to break away from its usual business model by starting the scene's very first homebrew 360 modchip project (XHM for short)
We have designed and tested a mod that patches the dvd firmware on-the-fly and works with all Hitachi and Samsung drives.
For Samsung it currently auto detects if the game is a backup and patches the firmware, if the game is an original it goes to sleep and no patching is done at all. For Hitachi the current code is manual enable/disable but we will soon implement an auto method, or one of you may beat us to it
Basically what we are doing is releasing to the xbox scene, for the very first time, modchip development and putting it in the hands of scene hobbyists. We will provide the complete source code and schematics where you will be able to see exactley how its all done - and make improvements and changes yourselves !
We all know how the homebrew scene works and how fast development can grow in a short period, so now is the time to put it to the test.
From the first release you can expect a Samsung Version - Auto Intelligent Detection and only 11 wires. We have chosen a very easy and cheap IC to purchase and is written in a language which will be understood by the majority of enthusiasts.
Then we will release the Hitachi version - who's patching includes the new mediacheck hack !
Think of the possibilities....
1. Less than $5 - $10 in parts - why spend $60 on a device that does the same if not less ?
2. A complete range of features and up to date code which you can program yourself (Think about it - All drives on one mod, custom SS location, F800/F900 patching, Stealth Patching etc etc)
3. Incredibly fast updates with non reliance on 1 company or person
4. A bit of fun and hopefully a bit of education too !

Q. Why are Xecuter doing this?
A. Xecuter were always hobbiests and sceners first before any kind of business. We have always tried to provide a certain amount of free and fun product during our time in the Xbox-Scene. The likes of C4Eva & GaryOPA have taken over that role that we once had, and we were kinda disgusted how some really poor quality modchips were being released with a $60 price tag - that rattled our cage a bit so we decided to put that kind of mod into the hands of the scene.
Q. Were Xecuter going to release their own mod?
A. And we still are - far far more advanced than anything we are discussing here or anything thats been seen yet - but that's another press release.
Q. Won't people just copy this mod and sell it?
A. I'm sure there will be some lamers who copy a free open source project and try to sell it. However the code will be constantly changing so whatever you buy will be out of date by the time you install. Besides we are going to make sure that things like PCB, IC's Programmers etc are made available to the public in large amounts and at the cheapest prices - you will get to achieve greater satisfaction by making your own mods - believe us its a buzz when it works !
We are putting together a release for you, one day this week so watch this space. Hopefully many other news sites will spread the word and we can kick start a new homebrew community !
