When Sony launches its motion-control peripheral Playstation Move in Japan this year, it will occur 1 month after the US launch and contain 10 fewer games, according to a report at GamesIndustry.biz.
It's curious that the Japanese market is is receiving less support and a later launch window, but this does give US gamers a taste of the pricing structure and perhaps a hint at what hardware bundles they can expect stateside.
The Japanese launch of the Move is on October 21st (it debuts in the US on September 19th) and will have only 6 games available for purchase alongside the Move peripheral:
- EyePet ( ¥3,980/$45)
- Sports Champion ( ¥3,980/$45)
- Beat Sketch (In US: Sing and Draw (¥2,980/$34)
- Fure! Fure! Bowling (In US: High Velocity Bowling ¥1,900/$22)
- Machi Suberi (in US: Kung Fu Rider ¥3,980/$45)
- Big 3 Gun Shooting (in US: Time Crisis, Razing Storm, and Deadstorm Pirates ¥6,279/$71)
Resident Evil 5 is already available, and will be patched to include Move support on day one. Heavy Rain will also be receiving a Move patch, but no release window has been announced.
Japan will also be treated to 2 hardware bundles (it really is being treated as a system launch): Capcom's Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition includes the game and packs in a Move controller and Playstation Eye camera for about $91 (¥5,980)
The second bundle, and one clearly designed to appeal to light-gun fans, is Namco's 'Big 3 Gun Shooting' package. It includes Time Crisis 4, Razing Storm, and Deadstorm Pirates. It also packs in a controller and the Move Shooting Attachment. Price-wise, it's going to be a few pretty pennies, clocking in at ¥11,980 or about $136.

After a mixed critical reception, there won't be a sequel to Obsidian's Alpha Protocol, publisher Sega says, adding that the game's sales did not meet expectations.
"Let's speak very commercially; the game hasn't sold what we've expected, therefore we won't be doing a sequel," Sega West president Mike Hayes told website C&VG of the game, which received some positive commentary on its concept but little on its execution, garnering altogether Metacritic scores of 63, 65 and 73 for its Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions respectively.
Alpha Protocol, billed as an "espionage RPG", was long anticipated, first announced in March 2008 and originally planned for a fall 2009 release. Ultimately the game launched in June 2010.
Despite the disappointing performance, Sega's Hayes praised the idea behind the game and suggested Obsidian was also tackling an especially difficult genre: "The concept was brilliant, though," he said.
"You know this whole thing with Metacritic where you have to be in the high 70s to mid-80s minimum [to have any success] - well, with RPGs you have got to be in the late 80s."
Simply "good" isn't good enough for "that upper echelon," Hayes suggested, and it'd be too pricey to try again: "Again, the amount you need to invest to get there is so large because RPGs are naturally big projects," he said. "We've decided we won't do a sequel."

Big announcement… 2 days to go!
Teasing is wrong. Very, very wrong.
Hideo Kojima has told JeuxFrance he will “look” into developing Zone of the Enders 3 after Metal Gear Solid: Rising releases.
“My team and I want to develop a new ZOE,” said Kojima. “But it turns out that Kojima Productions has limited resources in terms of teams and directors.
“So at this stage, we have not yet had time to work on ZOE 3 which has been postponed at the calendar. However, I think after Rising, I will look seriously ZOE.”
For the past year, Kojima has constantly teased and teased Zone of the Enders 3, saying as recently as E3 the much-asked sequel was officially on hold.
Soon, please. Soon. We don’t know how much more we can take, honestly.
Thanks, Gekidami.

There’s an interview in this week’s Famitsu with Metal Gear series mastermind Hideo Kojima. And not just any interview — a “special” interview.
Kojima speaks a bit about his next project, mentioning the following:Some of this was mentioned in that bizarre bathroom live stream from Paris during E3.
- The design doc is almost finalized
- The platform will be a console
- This is the “Taboo” he Tweeted about in the past
- He hopes to realize stuff he couldn’t do in Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
- Asked for a release period, he responded something to the effect of “Once I’ve started moving, I’m quick.”
- ZOE’s development is being pushed back.
He also seems to say something about being able to choose if his next project is original or Metal Gear Solid 5. I’m not sure if this means the game he’s working on can still end up being Metal Gear Solid 5, or if he’s saying that at one point in the past he had the choice of making MGS5 or making an original project, and he ended up making whatever it is he’s making.
More details from the interview will hopefully surface throughout the day.

Legendary developer Hideo Kojima has said that Metal Gear Solid 5 could be his next game. The big tease.
Mr. Metal Gear is still a bit unsure about his next direction though, "The next project is amazing," he said in an interview with Famitsu's publisher Enterbrain CEO Hirokazu Hamamura.
"The plan is pretty much solidified. Although recently, it has wavered a bit."
When asked by Hamamura if the new game will be Metal Gear Solid 5, Kojima responded, "For the next game I make, it's either MGS5 or an original game. I only have these two choices."
That's despite Kojima saying that Metal Gear Solid 2 was going to be the last of the MGS franchise. We should never have believed him when he said the same about 3 and 4.
That does, however, dent the chances of ZOE3 being finished any time soon - despite Kojima saying yesterday that he was looking to finish the title:
"Regarding Anubis and so-forth, sorry, those will be pushed a bit into the future," Kojima said. "I'm 47 this year, and I don't know when something might happen (laughs)."
So, as usual nobody knows what Hideo Kojima is up to and as usual another Metal Gear is on the cards.
BioShock creator, Irrational Games wants you to guess it's next game project.
The developer's called on fans to drop it a line via telephone to guess what it's working on. We reckon it's a Kinect lifestyle game.
By calling the provided phone number (617-302-7805) you can leave your guess and could appear in a future Irrational podcast, which will probably take the piss out of how bad your prediction is.
Irrational's previously worked on System Shock, SWAT 4 and the aforementioned underwater classic. It's previously been revealed that the Ken Levine studio's creating an "original title".
A new Dead Space 2 image has been released on the game's official Facebook page, teasing a "big announcement" for this week.
Developer Visceral wrote: "If you look closely you might find that there's a hint hidden in here about a big announcement we'll be making this week. Let the guessing begin!"
Our friends over at PSM3 magazine also went with the mystery angle when they promoted their Dead Space 2 exclusive for next month's issue.
So what could the 'mystery' be then? Yet again we're thinking multiplayer.
EA's kept quiet on Dead Space's mysterious online mode ever sense it promised it will "surprise and excite" fans. It's definitely about time for a reveal.
So come on you lot, get to your Bat-computers. What does this image mean? Although, the message does only say we might find a hint...

EA’s gone and confirmed Dragon Age 2 as a real "thing."
There are no details as yet, but the game’s name was listed in a press release on the shifting fortunes of Warhammer Online yesterday.
Currently announced projects at BioWare include the development of ongoing downloadable content for Mass Effect 2, one of the highest rated video games of all time, Dragon Age 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2009’s "RPG of the Year" Dragon Age: Origins, and the story-driven massively multiplayer online game, Star Wars: The Old Republic.
BioWare teased a reveal on Twitter last night.
EA confirmed in a fiscal release back in February that a new Dragon Age title would release in the publisher’s fourth quarter this year – that’s the first three months of 2011.
At the time, the game was called "Dragon Age Title TBA". It was listed as releasing for consoles, handhelds and PC.
A February 1, 2011 date for something Dragon Age-related was teased by EA back in March.
EA confirmed yesterday that its gamescom press conference would take place on August 17, so fingers crossed for a good look at it then.

Assassin’s Creed associate producer Jean-Francois Boivin has told EG that the series will take a breather next year, following the release of Brotherhood in November.
The news comes as the publisher readies to release Brotherhood a year after the launch of Assassin’s Creed II.
“Honestly, I think for the benefit of everybody and business can come back and override everything I say because at the end of the day it’s about selling games I believe that this license needs a breather,” said Boivin.
“You can’t plough a field every year. Once every three years or once every something you have to let it breathe. You have to let the minerals back in. I think it’s the same thing with any license, really.”
He added: “I don’t think there’s going to be an Assassin’s Creed in 2011. I think we’re going to let it breathe a bit and really focus on bringing something new and exciting for the next time around. This [Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood] is the end of Ezio’s story. This is it.”
Despite comments from Boivin, back in March, Splinter Cell: Conviction’s creative director Maxime Bland told Edge that yearly series outings on big Ubisoft IPs like Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell were a given.
“This is a long-term vision, so Im not telling you that yes, in a year youll have another Splinter Cell, but right now the direction Yves [Guilemot, Ubisoft CEO] gave us and where the company is going to go is, at one point, if the direction doesnt change, yes youre going to be seeing Splinter Cell games, just like Assassins Creed games, just like anything else, released a little bit more often,” he said.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood releases on November 19 for PS3, 360 and PC.

Later this year PlayStation Move will have its own answer to Wii Sports, thanks to Ubisoft and the imaginatively named, 'Racket Sports'.
Racket Sports will (surprisingly) feature a number of racket based games including tennis, table tennis, beach tennis, badminton and squash.
Players will be able to compete in 30 different locations inspired by real-world landmarks, says Ubi, such as Mount Fuji and the Dubai skyline. It does look very pretty, to be fair.
Customisation options will be plentiful so players can personalise their character and compete in a four-player multiplayer mode.
That's one more box ticked for Move, then.
GameStop has a Borderlands GOTY Official Strategy Guide listed on its site.
While there hasn’t been an announcement for a GOTY edition of the shooter, the book listing has the net buzzing.
A special edition of the game would not be a surprising move, since Take-Two CEO Ben Feder said back in May the firm plans to continue supporting the title, and then in June there was that cryptic trademark filed by Gearbox with the USTPO.
If true, the disc will be filled with the original game plus DLC packs The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx.
Currently, the guide is slated for release on September 9, so we’ll send Take-Two a mail and find out what’s up.
If your dream game involves action almost exclusively underwater, 505 Games has some good news for you. Today, the publisher unveiled Deep Black, a third-person action-adventure from Russian developer Biart Studio, set to emerge in Q1 2011 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Deep Black is said to combine "action-packed battles with an immersive story line" and blends elements of "science-fiction, espionage and bio-terror." Players will navigate the murky waters to "fight hostile enemies and infiltrate enemy bases" using "specialized underwater jet packs with integrated harpoons, mini submersibles and other high tech equipment."
As the majority of the title will take place below the water's surface, we'd recommend waiting at least 20 minutes after eating until you jump into the action.
It's time to stop crying over Dead Rising 2's month-long delay. Capcom's just released pictures of the special edition version of the game - the Outbreak Edition.
In the pack (pictured below) you will get a 12 inch figure of a zombie with accessories, a download code that gets you special download content including themes,
You should check out the new official website for the game that's just gone live with enough to keep you occupied until the game's out. We've got the official box art too.
The new site (through the source link) dons the ability to create your own profile, a new forum (that actually works, apparently), and a blog that will drip-feed you information on the game in weekly updates. Later, competitions, weapon profiles and more "interactivity" will be introduced.
Dive into the latest entry and you'll see a small gameplay clip showing off the new explosive bow and arrow weapon, which is apparently called the Blambow. Nice.
And of course, the game's main man Chuck Green is about to slice his way through a surrounding horde of bloodthirsty zombies on the cover. We've thrown in the plain art for you too in case you want a wallpaper.
