Seems like the ESRB and OFLC just exposed Mayhem, a new racing title from Evolved Games and ExciteBike 64 developer Left Field Productions.
According to the US listing, Mayhem is being developed for PS3, 360 and PC, and allows players to compete in “various demolition derby-style events to earn ‘mayhem’ points and unlock new levels”.
The ratings board also hints at the possible visual style of the game, with “comic book style captions” appearing to highlight high-octane crashes.
The OFLC, Australia’s rater, has listed Evolved Games as the game’s publisher, which suggests this is going to be a downloadable title.
Evolved previously released Raven Squad and Terminator Salvation.
The second rating says Left Field Productions is the “author”. We’re assuming that means “developer”. Left Field is probably best known for ExciteBike 64 the Dave Mirra BMX games.
There’s no date.
Back in December 2009, Croteam spilled the beans on the development of a third, completely new Serious Sam title, but with the release of the first two HD updated episodes we haven’t heard a ton on it since.
Now, a couple of tweets from Devolver Digital regarding the new title have reinvigorated our spirits-along with a couple other parts of our make-up apparently:
CONFIRMED: the new and redesigned enemies of Serious Sam 3 will give you a boner and heart attack at the same time…Hope to turn this Serious Sam 3 footage into a teaser trailer. Pretty rad, can’t wait to share with everyone!
I can’t imagine how it feels to go through a life-threatening attack on the ol’ ticker while sporting an erection, (really, I can’t) but I have to believe it’s a unique feeling that only a crazy ass FPS could possibly duplicate. Remember, if your heart-attack boner lasts for over four hours contact a doctor immediately.
Onimusha and Dino Crisis were recently ranked the #6 and #7 best-selling Capcom franchises to date. Since 2006, however, fans haven't seen a major release from these two series, and there's a good reason for that.
In a recent interview with IGN, Capcom VP of Strategic Planning and Business Development Christian Svensson says the company hasn't given up on these two franchises yet, saying they're evaluating how to bring them back for modern day gamers.
Fresh off announcing yet another dev coup – the signing of Assassin’s Creed boss Patrice Désilets – THQ executive vice president of core brands Danny Bilson has been discussing the company’s development plans around THQ Montreal.
The overarching goal for the core division, Bilson told GamesIndustry.biz, is four hits a year:
“Only the great ones, the blockbusters, will cut through – so our mission is to launch one of those every quarter,” he said.
Bilson cited a healthy amount of local development talent as a contributing factor, but the biggest reason behind Montreal’s attraction is how much THQ will pay to employ them: Montreal taxpayers will pay THQ 37.5 cents for every dollar of labour hired locally.
While Bilson described the UK as “one of the greatest talent centres in the world,” he noted that THQ, as a business, follows the money.
”If the [UK] government finds subsidies there, absolutely we would build out,” he added.
THQ’s Montreal undertaking is to employ 400 staff in the province within half a decade. They’ll be split into two teams (working on “major game franchises”, one of which will be headed by Désilets), QA, localisation and art support for Relic’s Warhammer 40,000 MMO.
General manager David Gatchel told press that 30 staff are working in the studio at present, with numbers expected to grow by roughly 100 staff a year “over the next several years,” Gamasutra reports.
THQ’s is to open a new studio in Montreal next year, and has hired ex-Assassin’s Creed boss Patrice Désilets to head it up.
Désilets, who was creative director on the series and on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for Ubisoft before moving up to a lead role on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, will be tasked to hire a team of developers for the new studio, which will open next summer.
Désilets’s team at THQ Montreal will create a new IP, while another team will handle an existing THQ IP or a new IP. A US designer will head that line-up.
“The best way we can deliver fresh, high-quality gaming experiences is by working with the best talent. THQ is delighted to have the opportunity to make a brilliant addition to our team next year with Patrice Désilets,” said THQ core boss Danny Bilson.
“We expect calendar 2011 to be a watershed year for THQ, and adding developers like Patrice helps ensure our focus on new IP and great games charted by leading industry artists.”
Bilson told GI in an interview that he expects a head-count of over 400 people at THQ Montreal within five years.
Désilets left Ubisoft Montreal back in June on the weekend before E3, where he took a “creative break from the industry” after completing work on Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Fans hoping to play the console version of The Witcher 2 - announced alongside the PC game last year - were dealt a blow today after CD Projekt described it as merely a "potential" release.
Even if the console version does come to fruition, it's "not likely" to launch alongside the pillar PC game.
"All I can say for now is that it's not likely for any POTENTIAL [sic] console release to be simultaneous [with the PC game]," senior producer Tomasz Gop told Eurogamer this morning.
He then apologised for being able to offer only a "no comment" on the console game's current status.
CD Projekt's continued reluctance to show The Witcher 2 on console - or even confirm which platforms it's on - has lead to speculation of its existence. In May this year, CD Projekt had to jump to the defence of the project on Twitter: "CD Projekt always wanted and still plans to develop The Witcher 2 on consoles - nothing has changed," the company promised.
Looks like that Spanish musician spilling on a Castlevania: Lords of Shadow sequel wasn’t a case of being lost in translation after all.
A VG247 source has confirmed that plans for a MercurySteam-developed sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are “advanced”.
The news follows MercurySteam composer Oscar Araujo telling a Spanish radio station that, “If you liked the first [game], hope that the second is even more spectacular.”
Konami declined to comment on the talk.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow released in the UK in early October for PS3 and 360, and debuted in the UK charts at number six.
The game is considered to be a franchise reboot, and is not a part of the original series canon.
Lords of Shadow is set during “the end of days” in the year of 1047. The Earth’s alliance with the Heavens has been threatened by a malevolent force known as the Lords of Shadow. Spoiler: you go and kill everything.
Expect more on the sequel soon.
Atomic Games has announced it’s to show off its downloadable shooter Breach in London next week.
The game will be shown off next Tuesday and Wednesday at a two day showcase at HMV’s Gamerbase store in Trocadero.
It’ll be shown on “seven high-spec PCs between 10:00am and 6:00pm” in the store. Players will be able to try it for free.
“We’ve never shown the game publicly in Europe before, so we’re thrilled to be doing so at a free event at London’s premier gaming centre,” said Atomic boss Peter Tamte.
Breach will release on PC, 360 and PS3 next year
EA’s clarified some comments made about the next C&C game by Visceral Games label general manager Nick Earl.
Earl was apparently telling Gamasutra that the next title in the series was being worked on by EA as a whole, and not specifically by Visceral Games, as was reported by pretty much everyone.
The project, according to this Game Informer report, is being put together by EALA, the developer of the last C&C title, Command & Conquer 4.
Just goes to show. There’s no further detail at all. Thanks, SplatteredHouse.

Tetsuya Nomura confirmed today via The 3rd Birthday Twitter that Square Enix will be giving a PSN release to previous entries in the Parasite Eve series. The Tweet was brief, only saying that a release has been set. Details and an official announcement will follow.
Nomura did not specifically say if both Parasite Eve 1 and 2 will be released, or if the news just concerns one of the games. However, in past Tweets, he said that both were under consideration.

A post on the Electronic Arts Forums by DICE designer Alan 'Demize99' Kertz has revealed that the team is focusing on the PC-specific side of the development for Battlefield 3.
"Fundamentally I think it is an error to have different core gameplay on console vs PCs. PC gives a player more input control and if a gun feels good on PC it feels good on console. I won't "dumb it down" by lowering the recoil or changing the damage model or other such silliness", says the developer.
He continues, "Consoles generally are less tolerant of overly complex interfaces... PC players have their own set of requirements. It's a damn sight harder to please a PC player, they have higher expectations."
Don't get too excited though, as "It's too early to talk BF3 specifics". However, the post concludes by saying that the game "...needs an extra bit of special attention on the PC. I intend to give it that attention, tradition and our community demand it."
The full forum post can be found here. Battlefield 3 is in development at DICE and EA for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3. A beta is promised in 2011, with no release date estimates yet.

Ace Team, the Santiago, Chile-based developer behind Zeno Clash will one day revisit the popular beat ‘em up. For now they’re all about Rock of Ages, a game which is shaping up to be an imaginative mix that owes a little to everything from Breakout to Tower Defence.
That doesn’t mean Zeno Clash 2 – which the developer announced was in planning shortly after the first Zeno Clash was launched – is history. Ace Team’s Andres Bordeu told RPS they will “continue the story and deliver a great new Zeno Clash experience–but when the time is right.”
Designer Carlos Bordeu (Andres’ brother) has previously stated on the Ace Team forums Zeno Clash 2 was “very far off”, with no dates in mind.
Ace Team also shifted from using the Source Engine to Unreal Engine 3, mainly to facilitate development on the PS3 as well.
The Twisted Metal series is finally getting its long-awaited début on the PlayStation 3 next year. The impatient fans amongst you may want to relive the glory days of the iconic original PlayStation 1 title, but might have a hard time finding a physical copy. Luckily, it appears you may soon be able to download the title.
Seen recently on the ESRB‘s website, Twisted Metal has been listed as being rated “Teen” for violence. What gives it away that this title is likely a PSOne Classic entry is the platform listing, which has both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable in that column. Ratings typically do not get approved until a game is nearing its release, so we should expect to see this available for purchase on the PS Store soon, perhaps just in time for the holiday season. Twisted Metal‘s latest entry is currently slated for an April release date.

David Bateson, the voice-actor who plays Agent 47 in the Hitman series, has outed the fifth game in the series.
Bateson mentioned the game on two occasions in an interview with TheGamingLiberty.
“I have to plead the 5th Amendment on this one. I am under contract not to say anything. There have been delays. However, like I said earlier, if the artwork is anything to go by… brace yourself!”
He added: “In all the years of Hitman, I have been overwhelmingly gratified and humbled by the sheer dedication to the Hitman franchise that the fans have expressed.
“For all the kind things that have been said, I am truly thankful. That kind of dedication and appreciation of the game deserves repayment… with an even more gob smacking instalment in Hitman 5. I don’t envy IO Interactive for the pressure they must under to deliver.
“I am utterly convinced they will!”
It’s been thought the game has been in development for a while, thanks to some marketing posters. Turned out they did “not represent any new Hitman game,” publisher Square told VG247.
The posters did show a 2011 date, which was further backed up by a Eurogamer report. Christmas 2011, to be exact.
The unannounced game currently in development at Black Rock Studio is an arcade racer, GamerZines can reveal.
According to a job vacancy posted today on Gamasutra, the Brighton-based dev team is looking for a Senior Games Designer to join its ranks to work on an "unannounced arcade racing game on Xbox 360 & PS3".
It's got to be a sequel to Split/Second: Velocity, hasn't it?
We originally broke the story that Black Rock were working on an unannounced project back in June when a job vacancy for a Technical Art Director position revealed that the team were developing a new game.
Black Rock Studio has previously developed games in the MotoGP franchise, and created off-road racer Pure. Most recently it developed the fantastic destruction-fuelled racer Split/Second: Velocity.
The latest ratings update by the ESRB includes a game that has not yet been officially announced for the PSP and Playstation 3. Crescent Pale Mist is a side-scrolling action game that plays very much like a shoot 'em up title. It got tagged with an Everyone 10+ rating for Fantasy Violence. You can view the rating summary below:This is a side-scrolling adventure game in which players help a young witch named Yonou traverse another dimension to uncover the source of a magical mist. Players run and jump between the background and foreground of each level while using sword and laser attacks to slash at fantastical monsters (e.g., dragons, zombies, bat-like creatures, "living armor" suits). Some battles are fast-paced and frenetic; defeated enemies generally disappear in explosive bursts of colorful light.
Sony Online Entertainment will be publishing Crescent Pale Mist for the PSP and Playstation 3. You can check out some screens from the upcoming game from the PC version in the slideshow to the left of this article.
