"I'm wet. I’ve got PES4 for PS2 yesterday and I really don’t know why my hands can be stuck onto the dual shock for some thirteen hours.
Before starting the game we have choice of running it in 50Hz and 60Hz. 50Hz mode has no slowdowns! Nice, very nice. Of course – there are also four languages to choose: English, Italian, Spanish and French. You must check Spanish commentary!
For the beginning – intro has PES League logo implemented in it. I was surprised to see it. Same for boards –
http://www.pesleague.com sign on the yellow background. Ok, enough for the intro. Loading screen appeared for ten seconds and…
This freaking English accent!
… Guess what is said in the title screen? Yes, yes. You gonna love it. “ Prou Ivolution Sucka’ 4”. Gotta love English accent. Menu didn’t changed a lot. I guess it didn’t changed at all. So we have, Match, Master League, League, Cup, Edit, Options and Training. Everything definitely in English, uh, uh – thanks Konami. Of course the most important mode is Master League and Edit. And I must say they’re impressive. Oh, and a little change with the sponsors. In last few issues of PES the sponsor was Umbro (and Adidas in WE). Now, Adidas is the main sponsor in the game. And Roteiro’s default ball. Hope there’s no Pelias to buy in PES Shop…
Let’s make Beckham fuck his penalty
Let’s just say – Edit mode in this issue is the most complicated and biggest archive of faces, noses, eyebrows and socks ever made. There’s so much elements of appearance to choose from that I had to spend almost two hours combining them to make myself appear in the game. Man, you can even choose two characteristic celebrations for your player. Penalty styles and free kick styles included. And it’s really fun when you score a goal on a away match and see your player making the opposite team silent with his point finger o his lips!
As for the celebrations: there’s one in which the player is pretending he’s drunk. Well… maybe we’ll be able to edit explict lyrics which will be said to the referee?
Be proud, PS2 users.
Graphics got better. Er… Ok, they’re sharper. But look at the screen of Giggs. See the cheekbones? It’s great. Konami’s attention to detail is simply master class. Stadiums… are BEATIFUL. Especially Occhio Del Mar. Some kits are up to date, some not. Sweet beta… Transfers are up to date. Smith is in MU, Larsson is in Barca, same for Deco and others. I’m a bit surprised about rosters. Konami never had them such actual. Probably Bill paid so much for the xbox version, that Konami could buy some licenses etc.
And guess what? SLOWDOWNS ARE GONE!!! Uhh, the main problem which made WE8 dull is gone. Gone for sure in 50hz Mode. Didn’t tested in 60Hz.. Oh, and the pace of play is perfect. Not to fast, not to slow. Just as it meant to be. You’ve got to love Scarface Ronaldinho )
Keep movin.
I’m happy with PES4 special moves and tricks. Finally they’re not a matter of coincidence. La Bona shot owns the game.
Remember the rumours about the strange long, strongly curled shot in WE8? It’s called drive shot…
And for god sakes where you can learn all this gameplay features? In TRAINING mode. Also much more bigger than in WE7. There are plenty of defence, attack, shot, tricks and others techniques to learn. Big support for beginners.
Some Requests?
I’m confused and I don’t know what to write. Why? Because PES4 got me into it’s hands! Ask, then I’ll respond.
And… SURPRISE! Check the VIDEO (wait until 22 and download then) of Juve - Arsenal match I recorded. And again – check the yellow PES League boards.
Enjoy!"
