Los analistas consideran que, al contrario que Microsoft, Sony sí se centrará en los videojuegos en el E3

Michael Pachter, el conocido analista del grupo Wedbush Morgan, ha anunciado en una entrevista con el portal GameTrailers que cree que Sony se centrará en los videojuegos durante su conferencia en el próximo E3. Esta predicción contrasta con la que ya hicieron los analistas sobre Microsoft también para la feria norteamericana, donde aseguraban que éstos se centrarían en lo multimedia.

"Todo lo que vi estaba centrado en los juegos", explicó Pachter sobre un encuentro que ha llevado a cabo con Sony para adelantarle contenidos de la feria. "Creo que ese es exactamente el mensaje. `Somos una compañía de videojuegos, nos importan los jugadores´".

"Creo que lo más favorable para los jugadores que pueden anunciar sería el decir `somos la consola menos cara del mercado, y la que ofrece un mejor valor porque ofrecemos muchos materiales´", comentó Pachter.

Sony has refused to clarify if The Last Guardian is to make an appearance at E3 next month.



It confirmed in a statement it was continuing work on the Team ICO game, which has been dogged by delays and departures of senior devs from the developer, including boss Fumito Ueda.

But it added it couldn’t confirm an appearance in Los Angeles in three weeks.

“The Last Guardian continues to be developed, however we have no news to share at this time with regard to the franchise and E3.” it said, tweeted out by Game Informer’s news editor Jim Reilly.

Guardian was unveiled at Sony’s E3 2009 press conference, but has only made two trade appearances since then, both at Tokyo Game Show in 2009 and 2010.

The game hasn’t been seen since early 2011 when previews came out around the time of the Vita unveil last January. Sony WWS head Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed Sony Santa Monica, among others, are now helping to finish development on the game.

Version 2.0 of Square Enix MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV will not be present at this year’s E3, producer Naoki Yoshida has announced.

The update was originally intended to be a centerpiece for Square Enix at the show, where a brand new trailer was set to debut, but it’s decided to instead “keep it under wraps for now.”

“The devs, Visual Works, Sound, PR—everyone did their part and the trailer itself was completed and ready for release at E3,” said Yoshida. “But during our most recent global PR planning meeting, we came to the conclusion that the most effective way to introduce version 2.0 to the world would be with a flood of new material rather than just a trickle.”

He continued: “In order to make version 2.0 a success, we need to appeal to not only our current players (naturally!), but also as many new players as possible, including PS3 owners. I really am sorry for the changes to the roadmap, but I really hope you understand that they were made with appealing to as many of you as possible in mind. We want to place the highest priority on keeping the 2.0 development schedule on track and on time, and prepare a large-scale promotional campaign filled with mind-blowing stuff!”

Final Fantasy XIV version 2.0 is slated for launch in late 2012 / early 2013, and will coincide with the release of the PlayStation 3 version.

Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy developer Quantic Dream is set to reveal its next “major title” at Sony’s E3 press conference in a week from today, a “trusted senior development source” has told CVG.

The same source also told the site that the studio is currently working on two separate mystery projects, both for Sony.

The last we heard of Quantic Dream was at the Game Developer’s Conference in March, where it debuted its latest tech, “Kara,” dubbed the foundation for the studio’s future of game development.
