Treyarch hasn't ruled out the creation of Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, but is remaining coy on whether a direct sequel to last year's smash hit may become a reality.

CoD: Black Ops shattered sales records set by Infinity Ward's CoD: Modern Warfare 2, whilst a third MW game is expected to be announced next month.

However, Treyarch is yet to build its own CoD sub-series, having released CoD: World At War and Black Ops in the last three years. But with the huge success enjoyed by its latest outing, it would appear to make sense for publisher Activision to continue the BLOPS series.


When asked by the latest edition of OXM UK if there would ever be a Black Ops 2, Treyarch community manager Josh Olin replied: "Your guess is as good as mine."

He added: "We're so happy with Black Ops - it was incredible. Everyone hoped it would have this kind of success. We all knew how well MW2 did [in 2009], breaking all entertainment records, so the fact that Black Ops broke through it for a second year in a row and reset that record was incredible. We're still really glad that we hit the ground with the DLC when we finished the game, because we knew we wanted to get it back out there."

US sales monitor NPD announced last month that Call Of Duty: Black Ops had become the best-selling game of all time, shifting 13.7 million units in the States alone.

Treyarch released BLOPS map pack First Strike in February for a hefty 1200 MSP on Xbox 360.

So, readers... who'd be up for Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 - and who'd rather Treyarch start something from scratch once again?

Developer Criterion had been hard at work on Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and thus the Burnout series got put on hold. However, if this rating by the Australian Classification Board is any indication, EA may be gearing up for the next Burnout release: Burnout Crash.

The game title also appears on the Linkedin page of an EA software engineer, listing that Burnout Crash will appear on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Whether or not Burnout Crash will be a full retail release or downloadable title is anyone's guess at this point, however GamerBytes points out that since the game has been rated before any sort of announcement, it could indicate that it could be a DLG.

Either way it goes I'm about ready for a new Burnout title regardless of what form it takes. Anyone else? Here's hoping for an announcement soon.

Sonic Generations may be the title of Sega’s next Sonic release. The firm has recently registered two domains surrounding the name, signaling an impending announcement.

The two domains: SonicGenerations.com and Sonic-Generations.com. Spanish gaming magazine Hobby Consolas dropped the same name in their latest issue when a fan asked whether or not they knew anything about the next Sonic game.

Additionally, Sega’s Sonic Facebook page is teasing “something big coming this week”.

Jim Reilly, the IGN.com news editor “heard some interesting things about the next Grand Theft Auto” at GDC this year, has spoke of the subject yet again, this time claiming it to release next year.

“With Grand Theft Auto V and BioShock Infinite coming in 2012, now’s the time to buy some Take-Two stock,” said Reilly on Twitter.

If what Reilly claims is true, I’d certainly expect a formal reveal at E3, this year.

A NeoGaf user noted an update to Squeenix director Nobu Tanaka’s profile, mentioning three “signed” projects.

The first two were the Gas Powered Games-developed Supreme Commander 2, and Obsidian’s Dungeon Siege 3.

The third is listed simply as “Project X”.

The same observant investigator linked this information to another Square Enix staffer, executive producer David Hoffman, whose profile mentions “three development agreements executed”.

Immediately afterwards, Hoffman listed “Supreme Commander 2, Supreme Commander 2 DLC and Dungeon Siege 3″.

Square Enix has been rumoured to be partnering with a third Western independent for some time. Prior to its official reveal, Dungeon Siege 3 was also referred to as Project X.

The first Assassin’s Creed III images have been leaked.

The images, sent to VGHQ by a tipster, shows off the protagonist of the yet-to-be-announced action-adventure game.

Capcom’s launched a new countdown teaser site, set to be unveiled a week from today on April 13 — aka the date the embargo for Captivate 2011 lifts. The background of the countdown appears to display a twin-headed dragon-looking creature.

We really don’t know what to make of it. We’ve taken the liberty of extracting the SWF file running the countdown and came across these two images. Make what you will of them.

Sniper Elite V2 has been announced for a 2012 launch on “the current generation of consoles.”

Rebellion is developing the game, with 505 Games is publishing.

“It’s very exciting to be working with one of the new breed of major publishers like 505 Games,” said Rebellion CEO, Jason Kingsley.

“Sniper Elite was an important, genre-defining property and we’re hoping to have even greater success by teaming up with the talented guys at 505.”



Rebellion CTO Chris Kingsley added: “It’s fantastic for us to be involved in the world of Sniper Elite again. We look forward to winning even more awards with Sniper Elite V2 and wowing the consumers with what will be a great game.”

No details on the second game have been announced, but the first title was a 2005 third-person shooter that saw you play as an American soldier disguised as a German sniper during the last days of World War II.

Quantic Dream boss David Cage has said that the Heavy Rain developer is currently “in discussion” with publisher Sony over revealing their next game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles this June.

“This is in discussion right now with Sony,” Cage told CVG. “We’ll see. I can’t really answer anything on release dates. We are in production right now, so nothing will be coming out this year for sure.”

Quantic currently has two projects in development, both “very different” to both Heavy Rain and each other, featuring a “different tone and different gameplay, but still based on concepts of narrative, storytelling and emotions”. Both will be published by Sony, said Cage.

Hopefully we’ll find out about at least one of them this June.

Sega’s released the new Sonic trailer they’ve been teasing since earlier this week. In it, we see two Sonics, both modern and classic, running their courses alongside each other. The end of the trailer dates the game for 2011, with release due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game still hasn’t been given an official name, but we’re assuming it’s Sonic Generations, whose domain registration was leaked the other day.

MTV Networks has announced plans to launch a new game publisher, 345 Games, to release games based on properties from the Spike TV and Comedy Central cable TV networks.

The new publisher already has two downloadable games in the works, one of which is the second game based on Spike TV’s Deadliest Warrior series.

The game, due out in July for XBLA and PSN, will be titled Deadliest Warrior: Legends, and will feature new warriors from history, new weapons, “a more precise projectile system” and a new campaign mode. It will be priced at $10.

In August, 345 Networks will release a game based on Comedy Central’s animated TV series Ugly Americans, which is set in an alternate world where humans co-mingle with all sorts of monsters.

The game, Ugly Americans: Apocalypsegeddon, will be a four-player co-op shooter, with players trying to prevent the apocalypse by fighting creatures and solving case files.

It’s to feature voice acting from the TV show’s cast as well as a script from the show’s writers. Again, it’s an XBLA and PSN release for $10.

Earlier this year, MTV Networks shut down its MTV Games publishing arm, which was the home of the Rock Band series.

Okami was an amazing game, both visually inspiring and well-crafted gameplay-wise. That said, it was a bit upsetting to see the sequel Okamiden come to Nintendo DS over a high-definition console. The latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine UK gives us hope that it’s still a possibility.

“Despite selling like yellow-snow ice cream, OPM favorite Okami could still get a PS3 sequel,” reads one of the whispers in its rumors section.

We would assume that the sequel would see release on Xbox 360, as well, considering Capcom’s stance on multiplatform games. A PlayStation magazine wouldn’t make direct reference to an Xbox 360 version, either.

David Hayter, conocido actor por doblar al personaje de Solid Snake a lo largo de varias entregas de la saga Metal Gear Solid de Konami, ha anunciado en su Twitter que ha estado trabajando en el último año en un nuevo juego no revelado.

Este actor de doblaje, aunque también guionista ya que ha escrito el guión de películas como las dos primera partes de X-Men y Watchmen, es conocido por doblar a Solid Snake desde el primer Metal Gear Solid, y debido a esto además de poder estar trabajando en Metal Gear Solid 3D: Snake Eater y Metal Gear Solid: Rising, podría estar implicado en un nuevo proyecto de Hideo Kojima aún no revelado.

"Por lo tanto, tengo la confirmación hoy ... que podría revelar el juego ... y el personaje ... en el que he estado trabajando durante el pasado año", ha dicho en su Twitter, además de animar posteriormente a la gente a que especule.

Esto alimenta los rumores que apuntan a que Kojima anunciará un nuevo Metal Gear en el E3 que se celebrará este mes de junio en Los Angeles, que podría ser la quinta parte, además de una recopilación de las tres primera entregas adaptadas a la alta definición.

The gears of Official PlayStation Magazine's rumour machine have been turning and according to the mag a third game in BioWare's fantasy role-playing series Dragon Age is currently in production, complete with an all-new multiplayer mode.

The rumor comes from the 'Inside whispers' section of the latest issue of OPM, which says: "More elf sexy time! Dragon Age 3 is on the way, with an added multiplayer component".

Another game in the Dragon Age series seems like a safe bet, of course. Dragon Age 2 made a strong debut in its opening week by debuting at the top of the official UK All Formats Chart and went on to has sell one million copies in less than two weeks.

However, the idea of multiplayer in the next Dragon Age is treading new ground for the series and BioWare as a developer. Both the Mass Effect series and Dragon Age have not yet had any sort of multiplayer, but the studio has expressed an interest in incorporating multiplayer in the future BioWare titles.

Co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka has said how "proud" the studio is of latest title, Dragon Age 2.

Mass Effect 3 will not feature a traditional multiplayer component, but series’ executive producer Casey Hudson hasn’t ruled out the possibility of an online-only Mass Effect.

Speaking with the latest issue of Game Informer, Hudson said that while they have yet to figure out a way of bringing rooted online to the series, a massively multiplayer online game beyond Mass Effect 3 would ‘make sense’.

“A lot of people say that they want to see an MMO, I think that kind of makes sense for this universe,” Hudson told the magazine. “Part of what you’re trying to do is save the universe so you can live in it. That’s part of the promise, I think, for any great IP. It has to be a world worth saving.

“I think Mass Effect has that quality to it. If you get rid of the Reapers and win that, wouldn’t it be amazing to just live on the Citadel or just take ship to Omega? That makes sense.”

Mass Effect 3, the closure to the series’ trilogy, is out this holiday for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The recent digital release of Tales of Vesperia on Xbox 360′s ‘Games on Demand’ service was only the start. The publisher has told Official Xbox Magazine that it has “great plans” for the series.

“We have great plans for the Tales series and we are truly focused on listening to the communties and their wants – especially through Twitter feeds, Facebook, forums etc,” they told OXM.

“We are also looking into new ways of releasing great titles like this.”

Tales of Graces F, a PlayStation 3-enhanced version of a Wii-only title in Japan, has already been announced for release in North America. What more awaits is up to Namco Bandai to reveal.
