Details on Epic’s newly-announced Fortnite have come out of the Twitter-verse and Forbes this morning.
A new direction for Epic, it combines survival horror with tower-defense like gameplay. During the day, players scavenge materials needed to build a fortress, and during the night, they’ll defend the fort and themselves from zombies. Asked if it was like Minecraft, Epic’s Lee Perry said “yes and no,” adding, “Minecraft let’s you build anything, we are focusing on constructing ‘buildings’ specifically.” That’s “freeform construction,” by the way. “It’s not scripted or just boarding up existing structures.”
It’s a third-person multiplayer experience developed on the Unreal Engine. It’s still publisher-less – the trailer was made to attract both publishers and consumers.
Epic is still unclear on what platform(s) and how pricing will work.

Altus is teasing a game announcement, and apparently it starts with the letter “G”. According to a newsletter we received as part of the Atlus Faithful, the first clue is said seventh letter of the alphabet, and the second clue to the mystery game is posted on Facebook. It’s the letter “R”, which is apparently the last letter in the game’s name. Many folks are guessing away on the Facebook page, with likely names being Guilty Gear or, what we think it is, Gungnir: The War Hero and the War God’s Demon Lance – the game Sting Team released on PSP in Japan over the summer. If so, as long as the name is, we’re hoping Atlus doesn’t put a clue up for every single letter.
It appears that Volition are working on a secret project.
If you head on over to Volition's official website you will notice that they have added "Secret Project Y" under the Games section.
J. Goldberg, Community Manager for Volition, has confirmed that this is a secret project and the "Y" doesn't play any specific role via his Twitter account.
The Hollywood Reporter is, err, reporting Bryan Edward Hill has become the new writer of the Just Cause movie, titled Just Cause: Scorpion Rising. Its story will focus on the origins of series protagonist Rico Rodriguez, aka the Scorpion. The movie will be produced by Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner. The movie’s being packaged and developed before it’s taken to potential studios. THR is also reporting that Just Cause 3 is also in development, something that’s “just a rumour” according to recent remarks by developer Avalanche.

The name of the developer may not be familiar to some but could one of Spark Unlimited next projects be Resident Evil 6?
On several occasions Capcom has stated its commitment to outsourcing projects to Western developers. Last year after the release of two sales failures, Bionic Commando and Dark Void, Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimota revealed a new strategy to use western studios for ports and sequels.
This brings us back to the California based Spark Unlimited who is currently working on two new projects for two different publishers. One of those new projects has gone into pre-production as of November 2011. That project, according to job listings found on Spark Unlimited’s website, is an “unannounced high-profile, popular game sequel for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC release.”
The game’s genre is described as a 3rd Person Action/Horror based on an established console franchise. This title will be utilizing the Unreal Engine 3 and will feature multiplayer as detailed on the website. Resident Evil 5 developed internally by Capcom was based on the MT Framework Engine, however the Unreal Engine has been the choice for new franchise installments in the hands of western studios. This fact was echoed by Spark Unlimited on Twitter. “The tide of the industry is flowing towards UE3.”

GamesMaster UK is claiming that Square Enix has something special planned for the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy next year.
According to a rumor found in latest issue of the magazine Final Fantasy XV will be announced during a special Square Enix E3 2012 press conference. The next installment to the long running franchise is also rumored to be coming to WiiU and PC along with the PS3 and 360.
While this is merely a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, earlier this year Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2 producer Yoshinori Kitase did express interest in bringing the series to the WiiU.
If true this would be the first time that a direct installment to the Final Fantasy series has ever graced Windows and a Nintendo platform in over a decade.
