MAME no es todo juegos. Y el hecho de que "veas" y experimentes es el "side effect" de un proyecto de documentación y preservación tan complejo.
Por un lado tengo muchas roms que no se ni de donde salieron (tendrán más de 10 años en mi HDD).
Por otro lado hará 3 años o así me descargué el MAME para poderlas jugar. Iban por la versión 0.180 o algo así.
Meto las roms dentro y resulta que casi no puede ejecutar ningún juego, por ejemplo de todos los Metal Slug sólo me ejecutaba el 5, los demás nanai. El Cadillacs and Dinosours tampoco, empecé a probar y el 95% de los juegos no los ejecutaba. (hablo de memoria).
Recuerdo leer que aconsejaban bajarte una versión de MAME previa, así que no se de donde bajé la versión 0.166 metí las roms dentro y genial, ya me funcionaban el 80% de los juegos.
Ahora pensaréis que problema resuelto, pero no.
El problema es que esa versión de MAME la 0.166 (al menos la que tengo yo) cuando la agrego dentro de Launchbox como emulador para Arcade NO ejecuta ningún juego, en cambio los juegos sí funcionan lanzando MAME 0.166 SIN Launchbox.
He probado ahora a bajarme la última versión 0.217 y me pasa lo que con la 0.180 en su día, que me da error con el 95% de los juegos. Aún así configuré Launchbox con la versión 0.217 e intenté ejecutar el Metal Slug 5 y con ese juego en concreto todo funcionó perfectamente, pero claro el resto de juegos no puedo usarlos.

Así que sí, creo que lo inteligente sería bajarme un nuevo romset y olvidarme de ese que tengo descargado. Por si acaso (dado que me sobra espacio en el HDD) me guardaré la carpeta con el MAME 0.166 donde me funciona casi todo.

a falta de probar lo del vsync de la gráfica, de momento me las apaño corriendo las roms en retroarch, el cual funciona perfecto.
aún asi el tema éste me sigue mosqueando un poco. al final ya no se trata de una cuestión práctica, sinó que me gustaría entender dónde está el problema ya que soy un poco cabezón en este sentido. me gusta aprender y dar con las soluciones cueste lo que cueste.
tantos años que llevamos jugando emuladores, desde finales de los 90, y aún hoy en dia seguimos teniendo problemas de input lag, refresco y demás.... eso nos pasa por ser un nicho de frikis

bajate retroarch, le metes el core de mame 2003 plus y te bajas las roms que tu quieras buscando en google un romset non merged de mame 2003 plus.
la unica bios que necesitas para algunos juegos es el archivo neogeo.zip, no tiene fallo.

totalmente incorrecto, la bios de neogeo, solo sirve para neogeo (obiamente... ) el resto de sistemas tienen su bios propia.
por otro lado si te bajas una rom y no funciona es posible que estes intentando hacer funcionar una version bottleg, si es el caso tienes que averiguar cual es el juego original y descargarlo ya que comparten archivos.

y yo era muy muy de no salir del mame antiguo, era probar retroarch y ni me gustaba la interfaz ni sabia usarlo, pero poco a poco me he ido empapando de info, tutoriales, dudas, etc. y ahora mismo estoy enamorado del puto retroarch, tanto en switch como en pc.
