Configurar arch de manera básica y funcional, una vez que sabes lo que tienes que hacer, no te debería de llevar mas de 5 minutos. El resto del tiempo lo pierdes descargando paquetes.
Lo que puedes hacer si quieres, una vez tengas todo instalado, es hacerte una imagen del disco duro, y en un futuro solo tendrias que restaurar la imagen.... y actualizar el sistema... lo que hará que seguramente se te actualicen todos los paquetes, xD.

Yo lo hacía con otro portátil al lado... En el disco de instalación está la guía oficial, no la de principiantes, y no sé si en más idiomas aparte del inglés. Para verla, cambias a otra tty (Alt+Fx), y "less /usr/share/aif/docs/official_installation_guide_en".
Si no te sirve, puedes imprimir la parte hasta que se configura la red (o seguir los pasos, creo que es muy sencilla esa parte), y una vez la tengas cambiar a otra tty y usar un navegador de texto para ver la wiki, me parece que elinks viene en el disco de instalación.

Si quieres poner la misma fuente que en Windows 7, tendrás que saber qué fuente usas ahí. msttcorefonts sólo instala las fuentes de microsoft, nada más, no las pone en el escritorio.
