Update still on track for the end of the month (so next week)
Leaders will be unlockable in the reward book (part of the new yearly reward book)
Yearly trees will also include additional unlockable rewards like premium cards or a gameboard (Year of the Boar)
They are hard at work on the expansion
Quality of life improvements:
o Premium cards back for console version
o Leader animations will now happen during turn switches (previously, they finish their animation first, then the switch happens)
o General optimization and speeding up: quicker, smoother animations and effects
o leader end of match animations now will show properly
they are looking into an autopass feature when you have nothing to play anymore
Changes to Rank system:
o De-Ranking will not be possible anymore during seasons (combats ladder camping and anxiety)
o You still lose mosaic pieces
o Improvements to matchmaking in all constructed modes
o They want a standardized rule to end-of-season de-rank (maybe you go down 4 ranks etc.); info on rank reset soon on playgwent.com
Masters:
o Open confirmed in March confirmed, first one after HC, first one before the expansion (leaks during Open confirmed)
o Will be a “unique” tournament
o They are looking into Season 2 of Masters
o Improve tournament support
o They are working on more tournaments
Seasonal trees will still come in March (it is a pity they don’t come in Feb (Season of Love) because the borders are HYPE)
o They want the seasonal trees out when they are ready and they focus on fixing more important issues
o Maybe an event or something similar coming for Feb season as a substitute for the reward tree
Thronebreaker patch mid-Feb for optimization and bug fixes, they will fix all the issues
Card leaks for the expansion (premiums)
Balance Highlights:
o Regis: Higher Vampire: Order. Melee: Drain all boost from an enemy unity. 4/10.
o Unicorn: Deploy: Boost a unity by 4. If you control Chironex, double that amount. 4/9. (Change from being in hand to being on board. Adds counterability) (same for Chiro)
o Wyvern Scale Shield: Zeal. Order: Boost a unit by 1. Refresh this ability whenever you play a unit. 7. (Same change in spear; will change dynamic, prevents people from playing pure Artifact decks; people often complain about Spear and Shield etc. They didn’t want to add more removal for artifacts so this was their solution.
o Schirrú: Zeal. Order: Destroy self and all other units with the same power. (He was getting too much value, brings the card in-line but doesn’t remove its potential to disrupt the opponent’s board.)
o Iorveth’s Gambit: If you have 4 or more Traps in your starting deck, play 2 of them at random. Prov 13. (They gave a buff to traps in this patch to make the archetype more viable)
o Letho of Gulet: Deploy, Melee: Lock a unit. Deploy, Ranged: Gain 1 additional redraw.
o Arachas Queen prov change to 15 to make her more playable.
o Emhyr from 14 to 12
o King Bran from 13 to 16
