En los HMZ lo que incrementa el precio tanto es la óptica que llevan y las pantallas que montan (dimunutas y con una resolución grande (720p si no me acuedo mal) para lo pequeñas que son, entre otro hardware caro "high-end".
Para VR todo eso no es necesario: ni la óptica tan compleja, no las pantallas (pueden usar pantallas de móvil que ya usen para sus teléfonos, y arreglado).
Aparte, Sony puede conseguir precios mucho mejores de componentes y ensamblaje que la empresa de Oculus, como es lógico siendo la primera una multinacional electrónica y de contenidos, y la segunda una empresa nacida de un Kickstarter que terminó hace un año y medio.
A ver al final a qué precio sacarán el invento, y cuándo... el precio deberá estar acorde a la experiencia jueguil que ofrezcan, y a si pretenden llegar al gran público o no.
A mí todo esto de la VR, sea Sony, Oculus o X, me tiene encandilado y con la cartera preparada

It's still a prototype, though.
PS Move's technology is being used in Project Morpheus to help with tracking. PlayStation Camera on PS4 is also essential. "It's almost as if it was designed for VR," he said with a wink.
They're using the same tech as PlayStation Move - with a lot higher rate sensors, and the PlayStation Camera.
DualShock 4's sensors and light can be used in conjunction with Morpheus. PS Move may also prove essential.
They want it to be able to be picked up and used with no issues. Pick it up, put it on, you're in VR. Put it down, you're out. No issues.
Finally, we've come to Content. "At Worldwide Studios, we have a really good team." Sony's own studios will "seed" the VR landscape, but they need other devs, hence they're here at GDC.
Current focus is on PlayStation - no talking about how this will, or could, work on PC.
Por cierto, el nombre de "Project Morpheus" es cojonudo.
Edito: InagotablE , ¿y eso qué importa? Claro que un "Second Son" tal cual no es posible. Los juegos que se diseñen serán conformes a lo que se precise para que todo funcione conforme a los requisitos de la VR. Aunque sean juegos con nivel de PS3 pero en VR, la inmersión ya valdrá por el "sacrificio".
Y un juego de terror o de naves espaciales...
