It's AWESOME from start to finish. 9/10. Period.
It's rather long (as usual with the franchise and with the Insomniac production) albeit a bit on the easy side. Took me around 12 hrs to finish it, but didn't max everything and I have A LOT of secrets to dig.
I can also confirm screen tearing is completely gone. Some frame rate drops, as already stated by the devs, but trust me you wont bother. Most wont even notice. The amount of stuff on screen is just overwhelming. The "Resistance engine" is definetly improved and I cant wait to see how Resistance 2 will look like considering they will probably stick with the 30fps thing. Some textures are incredible and there are a lot of reflection effects on metal/wet surfaces that you will stare for hours. And the space shooting sections... OMFG! Gameplay wise they are pretty straight forward (albeit you have to control the crosshairs and the ship indipendently, one stick each, which needs some getting used to) but graphically are truly amazing. Your retinas will burn if not disintegrate when you'll see them. Believe me.
Aliasing is almost gone, not as clean as the "doctored" pics but it's pretty close. Basically think Resistance IQ-wise, but with a tiny bit of "out of focus" filter on top of it. Hard to explain, and probably dependant on my screen overscanning, but you wont notice it after a while. It's very subtle and not disturbing at all. I guess it's some kind of cheap FSAA.
What else... hmmm... Ah, the ending... R&CF2 will be interesting to say the least
Oh, and the Insomniac humor is still there. Strongly. I was ROTFL at some point during the cutscene that shows the first space strip of the duo. Cryogenic sleep...
BUY BUY BUY
Insomniac delivers again.
PS: finished the game in one loooong no-sleep session. Not because I have to review it tomorrow, but cos I just couldn't resist the temptation to see what's next. So addicting.
