Just announced at this morning's Warner Bros. Interactive pre-E3 event, the long-rumored Gotham City Imposters is a new shooter from F.E.A.R. dev Monolith Productions. It's a multiplayer shooter set in the Batman universe. If that sounds weird ("But Batman doesn't use guns!"), then you're a set ahead of the curve.
The crux of Imposters is simple: You don't play as Batman or Joker. Instead you play as a highly customizable "imposter" on Team Bats or Team Jokers. "Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains," explains the press release, "gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons." From there, you'll take your character into a series of gametypes and maps, which are "inspired by DC Comics' Batman license."
Imposters is being shown running 4v4 multiplayer at today's preview event, but WBIE tells us that the maximum number of players isn't yet set in stone.
Update: Clarified details based on press release. Additionally, GothamCityImpostors.com is now live
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Gotham City Impostors, an original download-only first-person shooter where players battle for control of an unhinged Gotham City overrun by impostors inspired by the DC Comics characters Batman and The Joker. Developed by Monolith Productions, the game will be available in the Xbox LIVE® Marketplace for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC and PlayStation®Network.
“Gotham City Impostors blows apart expectations for superhero games with an exaggerated take on first person shooters, set in a part of the DC Universe players have never seen before,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Monolith is creating a game that turns Gotham City upside down and we think fans are going to have a blast with this creative twist on multiplayer heroism and anti-heroism as they play up the classic rivalry between Batman and The Joker.”
Gotham City Impostors is a multiplayer game unlike any other, giving players the opportunity to rebel against conformity as they customize their own characters. Posing as amateur vigilantes or villains, gamers will create their very own Bats and Jokerz characters using unprecedented customization options including insane costumes, homebrewed gadgets and a wide range of traditional and imagined weapons.
The game will feature maps and modes inspired by DC Comics’ Batman license. Fans can visit www.GothamCityImpostors.com for more information and to sign up to receive updates regarding the game.

Namco Bandai has said it has plans to “keep pushing” the Enslaved franchise even though Ninja Theory doesn’t have a sequel in the works, currently.
Speaking in a recent podcast with Eurogamer, Namco’s UK marketing manager Lee Kirton said the firm is “still very much behind,” the game.
“We’ve got plans as to where we want to take Enslaved, we want to keep on pushing… maybe to a market that hasn’t experienced it yet,” he said. “We currently have no plans for an Enslaved sequel. However, we are still looking at it.”
Namco has said in the past it felt Enslaved would have been better received at retail had it been given a different release window.
“It’s disappointing since it could have and should have done more,” Kirton added.

Scuttlebutt has it that the Sony Computer Entertainment studio Zipper Interactive, maker of combat shooters MAG and the SOCOM series, lost several employees in a round of layoffs today. Reached for comment, a Sony spokesperson confirmed layoffs at Zipper, characterizing them as "normal business practice and a result of cutting back on production resources after the launch of two major franchises." Sony would not specify how many positions were lost. Update: Multiple tipsters have suggested that 33 people were let go.
Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, Square Enix producer/artist Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada and Metal Gear art director Yoji Shinkawa had dinner earlier today.
What did they talk about?
According to Kojima, they talked about a Final Fantasy VII remake! After Kojima Tweeted that he was in a dinner meeting with the three, a follower asked that he tell Nomura to remake FFVII. "I passed it along," replied Kojima.
He was probably joking. Or was he?
Other things Kojima said he passed along are "Hurry up and release Kingdom Hearts 3D," "I know it's tough for Square Enix, but you can do it!" and "Tell Wada I'm waiting for Seiken Densetsu/Secret of Mana 5." Kojima did not pass along the message "I'm looking forward to the new Zelda game" that someone for some reason asked him to mention.
Kojima passed along one message without his followers' suggestion: he told Tetsuya Nomura to get a Twitter account.
While the actual topics of conversation during the meeting are probably secret (they may have just been having a friendly dinner -- it happens sometimes), we do know what was on the menu. According to Yoichi Wada's Twitter, two people had cola while two people had alcohol.

Ronimo Games, the developers behind the PlayStation Network and WiiWare real-time strategy game Swords & Soldiers, has announced their next downloadable for PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade. Awesomenauts, as it’s titled, is a new “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA)” game inspired by 1980s animation.
The game pits a group of mercenaries against invading forces in a fight for “territorial supremacy.” It’ll feature “Russian monkeys with jetpacks, giant robots,” and other alien creatures on a 2D battlefield. It combines classic platforming-action with modern online multiplayer — a welcome mix for fans of both the old and new gaming generation.
“We are thrilled to surprise the world with Awesomenauts at E3, and look forward to announcing further details then. If MOBA games and classic animated series were to have a baby, this would be it!”, said Ronimo Games co-founder Jasper Koning. “They don’t make ‘em like this anymore!”
BioWare is grinding away on Dragon Age III, according to BioWare Senior Director of Creative Development, Alistair McNally.
In a recent tweet, McNally said he is looking for “exceptional environment artists” to join him at “#BioWare Edmonton, Canada to work on #DragonAge3.” Mass Effect gameplay designer Christina Norman later retweeted the tweet.
This is the first time that either EA or BioWare has made mention of the third game.
Project RedLime, the top secret Starbreeze Studios title strongly suspected to be a new Syndicate, has been increased in scale, and that a new downloadable title from the studio is in the works.
Following a tip from Superannuation, Giantbomb ran Starbreeze’s latest financial reports through auto-translate. Starbreeze CEO Mikael Nermark hinted that Project RedLime’s unprecedented scope is a recent decision.
“The reason for our joint decision [to expand Project Redlime] is above all that we wish to implement a number of creative enhancements, we want simply [to] do an even better game.
“It also requires an expansion of the project because of the high staff turnover during the autumn and winter, as we have previously reported. It has taken time and resources to recruit key employees, while it takes time for new developers to come into the project. We have now secured the [manpower for] RedLime.”
Project RedLime will be published by EA Partners, but in the meantime, Starbreeze isn’t receiving any income from it – but it has irons in the fire.
When asked if he’d ever go back and revisit old IP, Urquhart admits that he would happily make a sequel to the spy game. “Of course. t's been a while since we've seen Kain or Raziel, but a consumer survey may have given up the ghost on a revival of the franchise. Square Enix became the Legacy of Kain publisher after they bought Eidos. Will the series have new life with Deus Ex and Tomb Raider?
Reader daverabbit stumbled over the possibility of a new Legacy of Kain game. He writes:
So I'm part of a website where you get paid to take online surveys and today I took one that asked me what I thought about different possible names for a Legacy of Kain game. Has there been any news about a new game in this series that I have missed or did I stumble across something here?
The four names were Obsidian Blood, Obsidian Sun, Dead Sun, and Revenant. They also asked if the names sounded good alone or tagged with any of the Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver/Blood Omen names used previously.
Surveys I've taken in the past have had the product later show up on store shelves so I figured I would share this info with you guys.
