yeah i would definitely say the handling is vastly improved compared to last year. That I did also notice and was mentioned by Stephen Hood about being able to ride and attack the kerbs more which I think is good seeing as most kerbs last year would send you into a complete spin.
I felt that with the improvement in the handling, it does help to get into a rhythm and even when I did spin it didn't take too long to get back into a rhythm unlike F1 2010. Also on the plus it's now possible to catch the back end before it spins you enabling you to drift rather than constantly spinning it out.
I'm bit unsure about the arcade side of the handling becuase I did drive with the aids off and found it such a joy to drive. As regards to the behaviour of the car the main thing I noticed was the shifting in weight when you would heavily brake going into a corner, how the car broke really gave me a feel of the weight shift in my time with the game.
Can you say anything about A.I behavior? Like if they tweaked A.I breaking points in the turns so it´s not so easy to overtake them. And if you had the opportunity to see anything related to damage model this year?
Yes, I have seen and raced against the AI (But not against the AI alone) and they're much faster. As they've got KERS, DRS etc. They have decided to tune the AI to be aggressive, break later into corners and use KERS as much as possible, whilst using DRS when possible. They were actually quite a challenge to keep up with, though I was disapointed when one spun into a wall and was unable to remove themselves by reversing out and thus was stuck there for several laps causing a yellow flag in that section of track. As for damage the front wing smashes more gradually, and it's certainly a bit more realistic. We were shown clips of the wheels being smashed off and the tethers holding onto the wheels as the car goes through the accident, extensive sidepod damage...They also have improved front wing damage as I dropped that in one of the races and it fell off quite realistically, slightly less confetti.
What is the on screen display like?
It's a bit cleaner than last years. You've got your timing screen in the top left corner (Though a lot of the time it was telling me the gap to 4th for seemingly no reason when I was leading...) and near the bottom there's a DRS indicator which flashes when you can use it and goes fully green when it's activated. next to it is a KERS meter which shows you have much powerboost is left/you are using. There's also the standard Rev counter in one of the corners.
Did you experience rain? If yes, how did the car feel on track?
No, sorry.
can you flatspot tyres, if so, did you feel the vibrations?
You can notice the tyres wearing (visually) and it does affect performance. I didn't try to flatspot the tyres but I'd imagine you can.
Any sign of real time qualy/practice for AI?
Didn't do any of these sessions with AI so I don't know. I hope they do, and judging on the race's AI, I would suspect so.
How is the career mode this time ? What is the procedure for changing teams this time?
I was not shown the career mode but Steven told me that it's impossible to represent the relationship between the driver and the team through a Pie chart; Instead you will get newspaper articles which are based on your reaction to the media and how the team takes it. So if you were with Lotus, and you said that in the future you wanted to go to Ferrari, you may get an article which says "(Your name) wants to ditch Lotus for Ferrari" and then the Lotus team starts to treat you differently, perhaps with a little less respect, or less lovingly. I think you still have to sign contracts, etc.
Can you go for more than seven years now? Schumacher has been going for almost twenty years!! Twenty years should be the maximum career length, not seven.
You telling me you want to do a Schumi? Not sure if you can do quite that, but I think Steven and Paul mentioned in passing that they were going to extend it...
1. Did you experience the full new damage modell? How does it look? Will there be more things you can damage ( i think suspendison is confirmed...)?
2. Is the AI better than in F1 2011?
3. How does the cars sound? Big difference to F1 2010? Different sound of the cars?
4. Was there any mistakes from the AI? When yes, stand the cars longer on the circuit than a few seconds and dissapear than?
5. Will there be yellow flags for longer times, when an AI-car crashes? Maybe for two rounds and not only for 10 seconds?
6. Did you see any of the mechanical failures? Or did you get one?
7. OSD? Changes to 2010?
8. Are there yellow flags and the yello LED-lights?
9. How look the tyres? Used tyres, did you see when it is over? flatspots?
1. Mentioned about that already, but you can now get Mechanical failiures (In career at least) usually down to you pushing the car too hard, or luck. (Try to avoid blowing the engine by doing lower revs, cope with the loss of certain gears.) From what they mentioned, nothing race ending, but that's no guarentees they won't sneak in a suspension failiure or two.
2. Yes, mostly.
3. They sound better, but when I saw them they were in 2010 spec with 2011 regs, so they all sounded about the same. They've definately worked on the sound though.
4. Karthikeyan was fighting for the lead of an online race at Turkey, then he spun into the pit wall at the final corner...And stayed there the whole race causing a yellow flag.
5. See 4
6. No, I'm too lucky for that. No, I'm sure they were disabled/are still being perfected for the final game.
7. Mentioned already.
8. I think there are, but they should be more noticeable at street tracks.
9. It is a lot easier to see, however I think a tinge bit more needs to be done on the "falling off a cliff" aspects as the tyres felt like they could've eeked out a few more laps when I pitted when suggested.
did you see any improvement to either telemetry or amount of variables available when setting up the car?
Nothing on Telemetry so far (Though it would be easy to do) and can't really talk about the setup as a few features were disabled. Similar to 2010 though, at face value, though looked as if there were a few grey areas where they may want to put new bits in. Also would like to tell you that you can rotate to look around the pits from the car with a mouse/wheel, it's no longer a left/right button pressing rush, you can aim for the screen or the engineer with the mouse. (Or in my case the wheel)
i see no one asked the important question so i will... do AI get penalties? (if the answer is no then i might not get the game)
Edster, I must say I am little concerned about your post where you said that handling sometimes was arcade. Last year´s game was between simulation and arcade...but If the next step is towards a more arcade, easier game...What do you think? What is the trend Devs have in mind? They would change handling model or not? Are you dissapointed about this issue?
The reason I said that was because I could take Turkey turn 8 pretty much flat for several laps, with only a few limited setup changes. However on the whole the handling is much better, and it is easy to run wide and make mistakes by slipping on the less grippy bits of the track, even with some aids on. (Which by the way if turned off means you can set faster laps than you can with TC on, and therefore more rewarding.) On the whole I am not disapointed as it's much better than last year's handling in that you can go over Curbs, etc...It's clear though that although this is a game which can be used for Simulation purposes, it works a bit better as a game.
1) Can you switch cars in replay (offline and online too) ?
No but there's a Specatate mode, and in that you can switch between the different cars in some very dynamic camera angles, which really put you into the thick of someone else's struggle to keep the car on the road. As for whether we can save these replays...I hope so.
Did you here who was the race engineer or what he sounded like.
thanks.
You're welcome. The race engineer sounded like a cross between Rocky (Vettel's engineer) and erm...Button's engineer, who's name escapes me. They've put in a new voice actor, so no more Rob, but this guy is a little bit more professional sounding, and was a lot more calm when I heard him.
2. Did you do a pitstop? Is it good? Differences to 2010?
3. What´s about driving over the white line: Penalty?
4. Is fastest lap shown at the end of the race?
2. I did do a pitstop at Turkey. Immediately I crashed my front wing slightly into the wall, because the pitbox control only takes place at the line. I think the reason it still autosteers in the pits is to avoid accidents/bugs that the player may cause. I didn't hit the front jack man yet, but there was definately better detail. (Better animations, more activity from the pitcrew.)
3. I didn't drive over the white line so I wouldn't know. I'd suspect not though, because of the odd pit exits we have at tracks like Monaco.
4. I don't think it's shown at the end, (I can't quite remember sorry!) but I figure it must show an overall fastest lap somewhere as everyone kept telling me that I had the fastest lap of a 1:24 around Turkey. (Yes, our times were a lot slower)
Has been removed the autorecovery spin => braking pedal?
[/quote]For me it defiantly was as when i was practicing i spun few times in row while just trying to get back on track
1- there are force feedback? if is yes, is hard, low...
2- when you spun, or lose grip, you can correct it?
1. I Would say there is as I had the wheel twitching at me a few times at high speeds. From the wheels we used I wouldn't say it was too high, but that may have been down to the wheels.
2. Yeah this was great as it is definitly happens it's very possible to keep the back end when it steps out (bit like kobiyashi did on the final chicane at canada)
thanks! and
1- two different cars sounds different?
2- in the limit of R.P.M, the car sounds very high (GRRRRR!) like F1 2010¿

Y no soy ningún crack.
