Yo he leido unos comentarios de una web de Sonic inglesa (Sonic Stadium)de 5 tios ,con las que se me han despejado todas las dudas.
To start off, I'm pretty sure everyone will be happy to hear it's indefinitely the best 3d Sonic title, not just in my opinion, but of all that have played with me or around me. The game has it's problems, but these problems rest more in difficulty than a glitchy game or faulty controls. This is more than possible to beat, due to it's godsend unlimited lives and merely restarting next to the obstacle you died by. Unfortunately, not all of the unlockables will be accessible to all.
Before I get into this, there's 3 things I should tell you about this review. First is that this is being wrtten on the Wii, so this review will span multiple post. The second is that I'm not the only one reviewing this time. In fact, you'll be hearing the opinions of 5 different people. First off is myself (Blackarms aka Sombrero_Shadow) and I'll be represented by "BA". Next is Tails_Master. She's a more timid fan who will be represented with "TM".
Next is Super_Knux. He may only be 11, but don't let his young age fool you. He's a great gamer who's played video games since he was 3. He will be represented by "SK". His first game he ever was Sonic and Knuckles". Next is my guide buddy. He's an image editor that take screenshots for magazines and guides. He's enjoyed the 2d Sonic titles and SA, SA2, and SH, but wasn't too found of ShTH or STH. He's neutral on Riders. He'll be represented by "GB". Finally, there's the guide supervisor. She is sorta' like the supervisor over this guides process and has played the game multiple times. She was kind enough to give us her opinion. She will be represented by "GS".
First I'll start off with the the story of the game.
BA- It's definately an intresting twist. Taking place in the old book Arabian Nights is a HUGE plus for me cause I enjoyed it when I read it.
Various Sonic characters appear as Arabian Nights characters, which is an amusing twist. Though there are some in-game movies and some CG movies, most movies are done like a sketch book with pictures and voices. Though I would of liked more in-game movies, these cutscenes are theme appropriate and have nice artwork. The story itself is sorta' like a play, how characters act out and their roles. It's not too dark, and not really kiddy if you can get past some weird sounding lines (my personal favorite, "Those torches sure are very hot! I feel like I'm burning up.").
TM- I really like it, and to all those who think characters not remembering who they are is bad, well screw you, it's funny and interesting.
SK- Not really a fan of stories, so I don't know.
GB- Well... It's different, that's for sure. Though sometimes I feel like I want to strangle Shahra. She doesn't need to tell me how to jump on the 5th level, sheesh.
GS- Well, the characters have some amusing things to say. All the characters also look cute in their outfits... Except Eggman and Shadow. Eggman is just naturly ugly and Shadow, well that weapon he has scares me. Lots of nice plot twist, though.
Graphics, though not the most important thing, CAN make or break a game. So next up is graphics.
BA- Though not PS3 quality, it looks just as good as many high-end last-gen games. It's on the same quality as TP and RE4... Most of the time. Some textures are ugly, though. But besides a few minor texture issues, it's gorgous.
TM- Graphics look really good, though they may not be high-def, the look like a lot of the games for Xbox 360 or something.
SK- They look good, but not great. I mean, their great for Wii, but comparing them to other titles, they don't look like top notch all of the time.
GB- The environments are extremely detailed and give you a feel if awe, most of the time. I swear that some of the logs in Pirate Storm are just pictures of what my cat coughed up, though. Yeah, what they said. Good with a few hideous mental images of swimming vomit.
GS- From a artist perspective, it is all very lovely and unique, with giant flying fish too exotic flowers. Though not graphics, the concept art is amazing. It is so detailed with wonderful imagintive things. But yeah, some of the textures are bad.
Next up is controls, which has been an issue for many in past Sonic titles. How are the controls for this game? Well...
BA- The controls are a huge improvement. They may seem a bit awkward at first, but once you get used to they really work. A major plus to the controls is also customization. You can customize Sonic's acceleration, top speed, brakes, maneuvering, power, jump height and more! Really helps fit all taste.
TM- It's like a whole new way to play Sonic. In past Sonic games, it never really felt like you were controlling Sonic. In this, you really get the feel of Sonic and his speed by turning the Wii remote. Sometimes I like to run in place and lean left and right to get a complete feel of being Sonic.
SK- Compared to other Wii games the controls are responsive. You almost never have to worry about the controller not responding to an action.
GB- Thank god the controls are fine! They may seem really responsive at first, but you grow used to it, and in later levels, this sensitivity is needed just to live. Also, customization finally solves the "Sonic's too fast" or "Sonic's too slow" problem.
GS- Well, I'm a huge fan of the Wii remote, and this works just fine here. The Wii remote is just a sample of our future where everything's run on remotes!
Music in Sonic games have always had mixed opinions, so how does this title compare?
BA- Well, the music is strange, to say at least. Some of the instrumentals are simply amazing, some are medicore. One thing this game has plenty of, though, is vocals. Almost every song has some type of vocal in it. Some of the singing is great, some are so-so, but in most it's hard to understand what their saying. It really is a mixed bag...
TM- I haven't really been paying attention to the music...
SK- Levitated Ruin and Skeleton Domes music is awesome. The boss music is awesome. The multiplayer music is awesome. The rest makes my ears bleed.
GB- I'm partly tone deaf, so just skip me.
GS- The music itself is great easter-rock music. The vocals I could do without.
Now time for the most important element of the game; the gameplay.
Instead of opinions, we'll state gameplay features and such.
First off, you'll be glad that the game keeps up it's creativeness. SEGA does a good job throwing new and enjoyable elements into the fray. Whenever it's giant skeleton transporters, flying pots, wall crawling, magic carpets, surfing, rewinding time, avoiding canon shots, running on a magical trail left by a gargoyle, riding on top of an enemy, trying to get the ingredients for a cure for poisin Sonic has, catapults, prison-escaping beast, etc. There's ton of stuff to avoid/do.
Each stage has 12 missions. These include never get killed, never kill an enemy, don't use any EXP, and some very fun level specific ones (like saving dinosaur eggs, shutting down generates, hitting switches in the correct order, returning souls to their graves, etc). In story mode, you must complete any number of these missions to move on to the next level, whenever it be 4, 6, even 8 missions.
Next up is the bosses. The bosses are amazing, the best in any Sonic game. There's giant crabs, dinosuars, leeches, robots, colossus skeletons, dragons, and sorcerers. These bosses range from chase-scene styled Sonic Advance 2 bosses to arena Sonic Rush/Rivals styled boss fights. And these fights use something lots of old Sonic bosses missed; puzzle solving and strategy.
The EXP system is superb. Before a level, you can customize Sonic's stats and moves. During the game, Sonic will get level ups. When he gets a level up, his magical ring gains more EXP and he unlocks new abilities and moves. These range from increasing attack power x2, only losing 10 rings when hit, increasing top speed x3, and whole new moves like the Heat Smash, Light Speed Dash, Fire Breathe Shots (yes, you read correctly), and many more. There's 104 abilities in all.
Next, the Special Mode. There is 255 unlockables. These range from artwork, music, magic carpets, gold medals, secrets, movies, interviews, levels & boards, and much more. Some are very easy to get, others are so almost impossibly hard to get, some players will never unlock some of these.
Multiplayer can be played with 3 other people or CPU's. There are about five boards, 40 minigames. The multiplayer plays ala Mario Party style and can be great fun, but in the end is nothing more than a distraction from the main game.
Overall, Sonic fans should not miss this, and newcomers will enjoy it too if they can get passed the difficulty.
BA- 9.5/10 (biased)
8/10 (unbiased)
TM- 8.5/10
SK- 8/10
GB- 8.5/10
GS- 9/10
(These reviews can either be accepted by you or ignored entirely. The reason I have a biased an unbiased is that one is my biased Sonic fanboy opinion, and the other unbiased is what I think the game is in reality).
