@11phenom11 https://steamcommunity.com/app/236430/d ... 691902351/I haven't played SotFS version myself, but these are the changes I know of:
- Improved graphics. A minor improvement, in a sense that the game is simply using DX11 as its graphic API instead of DX9.
- Torches come in handy more often since dark areas are actually dark now and some other places are also darker than in vanilla.
- Different placement of items and enemies, also WAY more enemies compared to vanilla.
- More NPC summons throughout the world.
- Keys required to access DLC areas need to be found as loot, whereas in vanilla they're automatically added to your inventory.
The increase in regular enemies' numbers is mostly what pushes people away from SotFS. The general consensus is that this change does make the world feel a bit more alive and some changes to their placement also makes sense, but more often than not you're dealing with gank squads of up to 15-20+ mobs just rushing you down. And even if you can pick them one by one, it's still a lot of kills to go through.
That being said, the decision of which version to get depends on what you want from DS2. If you want to explore its world, its lore and overall let its melancholic vibe hook you, then you should get vanilla. If you're in for some ridiculous hack'n'slash action, mostly - SotFS it is.
