Meet The Producers at Tokyo Game Show Part Two – Prequel of Yakuza Available in Chinese for the First TimeMr. Masayoshi Yokoyama, Producer of SEGA title “Yakuza Zero: The Place of Oath” announced the release of this newest installment to the series at the media closed session at Tokyo Game Show. It is confirmed that “Yakuza Zero: The Place of Oath” will also come out in Traditional Chinese in 2015, the very first time for this series and proves to be very good news to fans of the series.
Apart from the newest trailer of the title, Mr. Yokoyama also answered to various questions from the floor.
-Is there any possibility to release Chinese versions of the previous titles of the series?Yokoyama: As this is our first time to release a Chinese version, it serves as a testing ground for us. If we have good response, there is certainly a chance for more titles to be localized in the future, but we don’t have any concrete plans at the moment.
-What made you decide to develop the prequel “Yakuza Zero: The Place of Oath” on PS4™?Yokoyama: We have always wanted to create a prequel to depict the story of a young Kazuma Kiryu but never had the chance before. After “Yakuza 5” was released, we have also released an entirely different title “Yakuza Kenzan”. And now PS4™ is out, we would regret if we don’t grab this chance to make the prequel “Zero”.
-Will we see characters of the previous installments in “Yakuza Zero: The Place of Oath”?Yokoyama: Since the story took place in 1988, you would see characters that already lived at that time. For instance, Ryuji Goda, a rival character from “Yakuza 2” was only a 12-year primary school boy… even so, you will still see him in this title (laughter), so fans can see what kind of primary school kid he was.
-The game tells of the story of two protagonists- Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima. How is the balance of their respective storylines in the game? Will the storytelling be more inclined towards that of Goro Majime? Also, are there any sub stories of the sub characters?
Yokoyama: In the main story, the story of Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima each take up approximately half of the entire storyline. Players will play their stories alternately, which is new to the series. There are now more than 100 sub stories and would be the title with the largest number in the series.
-Will there be any interactions with PS Vita? How about DLCs available on PS Store to provide additional sub stories to players?Yokoyama: Players can play mini games on PS Vita on the go to accumulate money as both money and XP are important in this game. At this moment, we don’t have any plans of releasing sub stories in the form of DLCs.
-Will there be any new characters in this title? Can players expect surprises from the storyline?Yokoyama: The two protagonists you see in the trailer are almost brand new characters, and all old characters will appear in the way they looked back in 1988, so I believe they would look afresh to players. The storyline should also be bringing surprises to players.
