"Since its release as part of the Half Life 2: Orange Box last October, the PC version of Team Fortress 2 has a gotten a number of content additions and gameplay improvements, including new achievements and weapons for the Medic class and two new maps: Dustbowl and Gold Rush. The console versions of TF2, however, haven't gotten squat -- until now.
Shacknews reports that Valve is planning to bring all of the PC's content updates to the 360 version of TF2. "We're looking at bringing the Goldrush and the new achievements and stuff out to the 360," said Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi at Electronic Arts' pre-E3 press event last week. "How and when is still sort of being determined, on pricing and that kind of stuff. On the PC it's sort of wide open. You can release stuff whenever you want. On the console there's a little bit more of a pathway."
Lombardi said they've been focusing on amassing enough content to make the downloadable content release worthwhile. "What we've been waiting for is until we had a critical mass of new content to put out," Lombardi said. "So we feel like we're kind of there now. We'll probably be making some announcements pretty soon on what will happen with the 360 stuff."
It's interesting that Lombardi mentions pricing, as almost exactly a year ago today Valve stated their intention to keep downloadable content for their games free, no matter what platform you played them on. "You buy the product, you get the content," TF2 designer Robin Walker stated. "We make more money because more people buy it, not because we try and nickel-and-dime the same customers."
This mandate no doubt runs counter to Microsoft's intentions with DLC on the 360; it remains to be seen whether Valve will be able to stay true to its original goal.
Either way, 360 owners have something to look forward to. But what about the PlayStation 3 version? "Unfortunately I don't know that any of that will make it to the PS3," Lombardi said. It's not entirely surprising considering the PS3 version of the Orange Box was farmed out to EA UK and not developed internally at Valve, as the PC and 360 versions were. (Valve co-founder Gabe Newell's very public opinions on the PS3 may have been a sign, too.) "
En resumen que van a sacar el contenido que ha salido para PC para la 360 y antes de que nadie se emocione nada de subtítulos
